Pool Workout-at-a-Glance
The Athletic Edge water exercise video does not include a warm-up or cool down because it is only 15-minutes in length and intended to be combined with another pool workout using the Poolfit app playlist feature on days you want extra cardio and strength. This water fitness video includes 14 exercises, divided into two segments.
Segment 1: This segment includes seven water exercises that utilize a single HydroRevolution drag bell.
Segment 2: This segment includes seven water exercises performed with a single foam dumbbell.
If you do not have the equipment, you can modify the exercises.
Below, Stephanie provides more insights into her inspiration for creating this workout.
Skill Specific Training
By Stephanie Thielen
You do not have to be playing in front of thousands of people or sign a six-figure contract in order to train like an athlete. While athletes train their body specifically for their sport, the average joe should do the same. The sport is called LIFE.
Every BODY benefits from some form of physical fitness whether it’s walking, swimming, cycling or strength training. Consistent movement improves the efficiency of our heart and lungs, improves our muscular strength and endurance, and keeps our body composition in check.
Every BODY can also benefit from training fitness skills that level up our daily LIFE performance. Fitness skills include agility, speed, coordination and power. You probably don’t need to clock the fastest 40-yard time in your neighborhood, but you do need skills such as skipping, shuffling, and jumping which are basic locomotor movements that help us to travel through space. Not training for the “World’s Strongest Man” contest? That’s ok, you still need a strong body to get through life to accomplish tasks such as household chores or social and recreational activities such as playing with children/grandchildren or participating in a social bowling or pickleball league.
The Athletic Edge is a series of movements that make you feel like an athlete, because you are training like an athlete. The workout is fun, fast and energetic and makes you feel confident and powerful. Give it a try. A new workout, a new skill can add excitement and motivation to continue to keep movement consistent, while training our bodies to be more efficient.
