AquaBata with Melissa Plumeau is a shallow water workout that features 8 Tabata/HIIT intervals designed to challenge your fitness through powerful progressions, grounded strength and dynamic movement. These short, but powerful intervals, deliver a high metabolic stimulus in very little time. Simple in structure, purposeful in design, AquaBata builds strength, endurance and confidence, one interval at a time.
Tabata workouts are nothing new to Poolfit subscribers. We have featured several water exercise videos with the Tabata timing. Tabata started becoming popular in aquatic fitness classes over 10 years ago and is now one of the most popular class formats, loved by both class participants and instructors. Tabata pool workouts feature eight 4-minute rounds of exercises. Each round includes 8 exercises performed for 20 seconds of work and 10 seconds of rest.
Below, Melissa describes the science behind her Tabata design and then read on for a summary of the 8 rounds.
