Below, Richard reveals three tips for achieving maximal enjoyment in an Aqua Zumba® class.
THREE AQUA ZUMBA TIPS
1) Don’t overthink it
Zumba is all about the music and mood. Richard recommends allowing yourself to free your mind and let your body just move organically. You do not have to master every move to get a good workout. However, doing this routine several times will indeed help you improve your mastery of the movement and the overall effectiveness of the workout.
2) Avoid incorrect pool depth
Aqua Zumba is a shallow water workout, but it is possible to get too deep or too shallow depending on the depth and your height. If you are too deep, buoyancy takes over and you end up on your tippy toes incapable of following along with good form. If you get too shallow, the impact can become uncomfortable on your lower extremities. The proper depth is mid chest level.
3) Bounce it out!
The Aqua Zumba bounce is now well known. The bounce is intended to get participants moving in the water right away. It also serves as transition between more complex moves. Richard recommends bouncing it out if you get confused in the moves, so that you can jump back into the choreography from a neutral bounce.
Poolfit extends a big thank you to Richard for arranging this special 2-video collab between Zumba® and Poolfit. If you want to know more about Zumba® and exercise opportunities using their app, check out the Zumba website.
