POOLFIT APP VERSION 1.0

Saturday, May 16 2020

Ready to exercise in the water?  The PoolFit App is NOW available in the App Store.  Following along with water exercise workouts just got a lot easier.  The PoolFit App allows you to download a workout video and take your device poolside, without the need of Wi-Fi. The app is a game changer for water exercise.  To download the app, visit the App Store on your iPad or iPhone and search: PoolFit.

PoolFit.tv launched in Winter 2019 but we pretty much sat on it for the past year, knowing that the full website alone was ineffective for both backyard pools and shared pools that lacked Wi-Fi access.  Subscribers needed a way to download videos and take their device to the pool.  They needed an app!  Since the PoolFit web techs are also seasoned mobile app developers, they relished the challenge of developing an app for PoolFit.

PoolFit App Version 1.0

IOS for now
Based on PoolFit subscriber analytics, we prioritized an IOS app as PoolFit analytics showed far more IOS users, as opposed to android users.  If you are an android user and interested in an app, please provide us some feedback on your device at support@poolfit.tv.

Downloading
The first version of the app is pretty straightforward because there is only one primary feature – downloading.  To download a video, select the workout you want, open the video details page and tap on the download icon in the bottom right hand corner of the video viewer.

Downloads
Once the video starts downloading it goes into your Downloads which can be accessed at the bottom of the app.  You can download as many videos as you want, but it is recommended that you should only have a couple downloaded at a time to minimize storage space.  Videos can be easily removed and added back into downloads at any time by tapping on the download icon.

Choosing Video Quality
Video quality settings can be selected in your App Settings which are located in the bottom left corner of the app.  For smaller screens, such as phones and tablets, 360p is the recommended video quality to choose.  At this lower quality, videos download in less than a minute and take up less storage space. For larger screens, such as TVs, 1080p is the recommended video quality setting.

Larger Screen TVs
We will still have some work to do with smart TVs. We are discovering that our current subscribers are using a wide variety of smart TVs and we have to find ways to address all. These issues will be addressed in version 2.0, which will come out shortly.  The web team is already working on Air Play and Chromecast compatibility settings. Please reach out to support@poolfit.tv if you are having difficulty connecting the app to your TV.  Our goal is to make the app compatible to whatever TV you are using, but we need your feedback.

Audio downloads?
The app will likely eliminate the need going forward for audio downloads.  The audio track of the video is the SAME as the audio download.  Now you can simply download a video and take your device and connect to your iPhone or iPad with Bluetooth waterproof ear buds.  If you have a private pool, you can also use a Bluetooth speaker.

Viewing Accessories
Bringing your device to the pool will require some innovation in regards to waterproof cases, tablet or phone stands, ear buds, speakers, anti-glare guards, etc.  We will try to keep the PoolFit Marketplace stocked with products available through Amazon, but PLEASE do share any products or devices that help your viewing needs.  Email them to info@poolfit.tv.
Version 2.0
As mentioned above, the main focus in Version 2.0 will be implementing compatibility for smart TVS.  On the docket for future versions is search capability, categories, favorites and more.   We would love to hear your feedback and requests.

Enjoy the Poolfit App.  We truly believe this app will be a game changer.  There simply are no other apps or websites that provide follow-along pool workouts.  Exercising in the water just got a lot easier!   Pass this along to anyone you know who has access to a pool and would like to exercise in it.
