Get ready to have a ball in the pool. Water Exercises with Small Ball with Kelly Bullard is a 15-minute pool workout video that showcases 15 water exercises that target various muscle groups, all performed with a small ball. Consider combining this mini workout with another Poolfit video using the playlist feature on those days when you want extra muscle conditioning.
Small plastic balls become buoyant when pushed below the surface of the water, creating resistance and neutral buoyancy, similar to a pool noodle or foam dumbbells. However, the small cylindrical shape of the ball provides its own set of fitness challenges. As seen in the video, the ball can be pushed down in the water for buoyant resistance, or pushed, pulled and swept side to side horizontally for drag resistance. Additionally, the ball can be squeezed between hands, forearms and thighs for muscular resistance. The ball can also be used for neutral buoyancy, to float you in various positions to create other exercise challenges.
Pool Workout-at-a-Glance
As mentioned above, this video features 15 exercises using a small ball. Each exercise is performed for 60 seconds. There is no warm-up or cool down because this workout is meant to be combined with another video. A children’s ball, typically found at any Dollar Store can be used. However, if you want the same size ball that Kelly uses in the video, consider purchasing as 9-inch Pilates Ball. They are widely available on Amazon, such as the ProBody Pilates Ball, available for $14.95 each. Watch Kelly talk more about the workout and ball recommendations in the video below.
Poolfit extends a big thank you to Kelly for sharing these fun and challenging small ball exercises with subscribers. Good news! Kelly will be back in mid-January 2025 with a pool noodle and the pool wall, recreating a Barre Studio in the pool. Get ready to tone and stretch like a dancer.
