Ready Set Game On! This is The Multiplier, a 55-minute pool workout that showcases a cardio blast with a fun rep challenge. The entire workout is based on just 12 exercises that are paired into six 2-move combos. This workout can be enjoyed deep or shallow and does not require any equipment.
Why did I create a video called The Multiplier? My inspiration goes back a few years. If you have ever exercised along with some of the AquaGym Fitness videos with Stephanie Newbury, you will recall her progressive moves where one exercise in a 2-move combo was progressed one rep at a time.
Recently, I reposted a reel on Poolfit’s social media platforms that I first posted in 2024. This reel showed an example of a progressive 2-move combo. However, I called it a “Multiplier” because I didn’t want to co-opt Stephanie’s terminology. After reposting this reel, it occurred to me that a full video of multiplier combos would be a fun challenge.
Below, I talk about my inspiration and then read on for a workout summary and the benefits of a rep challenge.
Workout Summary
This 55-minute water exercise video includes a warm-up, seven exercise segments and a final dynamic stretch. Once again, there are just 12 exercises in this entire workout. The 12 exercises are paired up into six 2-move combos. Each 2-move combo is taught twice.
The first time through, the first move is multiplied, meaning you add on a rep every time you do the combo, while the second move stays static at just one. You have 90 seconds to see how many reps you can complete for the first move.
The second time the 2-move combo is performed, the second move is multiplied, and the first move stays static at one. After the 12 multiplier rounds have been completed, it’s time for a Multiplier Bonus Round. In this final round, all 12 exercises are added together for a mega-combo that is taught with repetition reduction.
Self-pacing is Important
This workout is designed for participants to complete the reps at their own pace. In a class, everyone would be going along at different paces, and it would be important for the class members to count.
If you are following along with me in the video, you need to tune out my counting and focus on your own, as you may go faster or slower than me. It was necessary for me to count because I had to keep track of my own reps.
Benefits of a Rep Challenge
Yes, this is a cardio workout. But this workout is all about focus, engagement and challenging yourself to see how many reps you can complete. Working with less moves, and lots of repetition makes this a simple straightforward athletic workout that will challenge your endurance and build stamina. Each time you do it, you can try to push yourself a little harder to get one more rep.
I hope you enjoy exercising along with me in the pool to The Multiplier. If you are enjoying Poolfit and have not yet left us a review, please do so by leaving a review in the App Store or Play Store. Your nice review make us look good and enocurage others to try Poolfit.
