Sometimes the weather or other circumstance prevent you from getting in the pool. 3D Yoga with Lori Templeman is a gentle in-home yoga practice that replicates how you move during the day, helping you keep your body strong, flexible and less injury-prone. This yoga practice is perfect for energizing you in the morning or for unwinding at the end of the day.
Poolfit’s In-Home Fitness Videos
It is summertime in Florida and the fierce daily thunderstorms inspired me to post an in-home fitness video. It has been months since we posted one. Poolfit will continue to post in-home fitness options for those times you need a substitute for your pool workout. Our In-Home Fitness Video Category includes options for yoga, muscle conditioning, low-impact aerobics, arthritis and chair fitness.
What is Yoga 3D?
3D Yoga was specifically designed by Lori to include gentle exercises from the three primary planes of motion, which include movement that is front to back, side to side and rotational. The inspiration for this program design was to replicate how the human body moves during the day. Training the body with a yoga practice that includes these functional movements will increase muscular flexibility and joint range of motion, which can help keep your body more limber, pain-free and less likely to incur a musculoskeletal injury. As Lori explains in the video below, it is important to listen to your body during this practice and stay within a comfortable range of motion.
Deep Breathing & Relaxation
Like all yoga practices, 3D Yoga is as much about the breath as it is the movement. Many of yoga’s health benefits stem from deep breathing and relaxation. According to an online article by Urban Balance, deep breathing has many positive effects on the body. It can decrease stress, relieve pain, improve immunity, lower blood pressure and improve digestion to name a few. In this video, Lori begins with an extended introduction of breathing and relaxation so that the practitioner can get grounded and rid themselves of stress and negative thoughts before beginning. The 3D Yoga practice also ends with an extended phase of deep breathing for added relaxation and health benefits. We thought it would be rather boring to show Lori laying on a mat for 5 minutes, and so we added in some Florida scenery during this final relaxation segment.
What You Need
The most important requirement for this yoga practice is a quiet and comfortable area in your home to perform the gentle movements. If you have tile or hardwood floors, a good yoga mat like the one Lori uses in the video would be helpful. In the video, Lori also uses a yoga blanket and a yoga block, which can help if you have limited range of motion.
All exercise is good. It is important to vary high intensity workouts with recovery days. This gentle yoga practice is perfect as a recovery-day option, allowing your body to rest and repair between intense exercise bouts. Poolfit would like to extend a hearty Namaste to Lori for sharing her yoga passion with subscribers. Check out Lori’s other Poolfit videos and stay tuned for a couple more posting this summer/fall.
