Agility and Strength Workout

Sunday, March 08 2026

Looking for a quick 20-minute cardio and strength workout? Join Jackie Lebeau for Free Weights and Footwork, a Tabata-style workout that utilizes an agility ladder and a pair of hand weights. However, this workout can be done without equipment by imagining a ladder on the floor and by using canned goods or water bottles in place of hand weights.

Sometimes you can’t get in the pool for various reasons, most notably weather-related. Therefore, every winter Poolfit films new in-home workouts. We strive to make these workouts low-impact or impact-free to meet the needs of subscribers who choose water exercise for those reasons. These workouts include chair exercise, muscle conditioning, core training, low-impact aerobics, joint mobility, stretching and more. Check out Poolfit’s  current library of in-home workouts.

Free Weights and Foot Work: Workout-at-a-Glance
This 20-minute in-home workout does not include a warm-up or cool down. Shorter videos such as these are intended to be combined with other Poolfit workouts. This workout is divided into five 4-minute Tabata rounds. Each of the Tabata rounds includes 8 exercises performed for 20 seconds of work, followed by 10 seconds of recovery. In each round, four of the exercises are intended for cardio using an agility ladder, and they are alternated with four rounds of strength using hand weights. The strength exercises are evenly divided by upper and lower body, ensuring a total body workout. The cardio agility ladder exercises can all be performed low impact. However, Jackie does offer higher intensity/impact options. The agility ladder used in the video was purchased on amazon for $22.00.  However, as noted above, you do not need to purchase a ladder.  Just imagine a ladder on the floor. The 5-pound hand weights were also purchased on Amazon for $18.00, but you do not need to buy hand weights. You can use canned goods from your pantry, or water bottles.
Below, Jackie talks more about the Free Weights and Foot Work video.
