In-Home Mobilize and Stretch features 20 minutes of soothing exercises designed to lubricate all the joints and stretch all the muscles. Standing next to a chair, experience a total body tune-up that you can do any time in the comfort of your own home. Make it a New Years goal to include joint mobility and muscular flexibility as a regular part of your fitness regimen. Your body and your future self will thank you.
Sometimes you can’t get in the pool and so each winter we add on to our library of in-home workouts. Given that most subscribers choose to exercise in the pool because it is less stressful on the body, we strive to make sure all in-home workouts are low impact or non-impact. The In-Home Mobilize & Stretch video is perfect to combine with other in-home fitness videos or activities, such as walking. It is also ideal when you are recovering or post-surgery. Please share this workout with someone you know who could benefit from the joint mobility and muscular flexibility. Last week, we posted the Pool Mobilize and Stretch video. It is the same 20-minute workout as the in-home version. In the pool version, the water’s viscosity holds you upright to perform the exercises. In the in-home version, you will want to stand next to a chair or a wall for balance. Read the video blog from last week’s pool version to better understand the importance of joint mobility and muscular flexibility. Below, I have included a video where I talk more about both workouts, as well as a video summary.
VIDEO SUMMARY
In both the pool and in-home videos, there are ten sequences of movement that alternate mobility and stretching for all the joints and major muscle groups. The mobility exercises were taken from AEA’s Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program (AFEP) and are specifically designed to move all your joints through their full range of motion. Maintaining a healthy and full range of motion through both your joints and your muscles is key to helping you move better and stay injury free.
As I have mentioned in many of my video blogs, movement truly is medicine for the body. Joints become dehydrated in the absence of movement and muscles become tight and restricted. I am confident that this 20-minute exercise routine will leave you feeling as though every part of your body has been limbered and refreshed. If you know someone who could benefit from either the in-home or pool version, please share this with them.
If you enjoy having in-home workouts on the platform, please let us know.
