Water Exercises with a Towel

Thursday, December 18 2025

Ready to try something different in your pool workout? Try using a towel for drag resistance. Join Mushi Harush for Towel Power, a 25-minute water exercise video that showcases a variety of exercises that can be done with a simple exercise towel, including muscle conditioning, cardio, stretching and more.

Drag resistance is caused by moving an object through the water’s viscosity or thickness, such as your total body, or the movements of your limbs. Drag equipment, such as webbed gloves or the Hydrorevolution upper and lower Body trainers can be used to increase the surface area of the limbs and thus generate more overall resistance in pool workouts. Using a towel can be a simple and affordable way to test the power of drag resistance.

The towel can be folded, rolled, wrapped or used open, with one or two hands for upper body resistance and cardio endurance. The towel can be wrapped around the ankle for lower body muscle conditioning. It can also serve as a stretch cord for flexibility training.

Towel Power Workout Summary
This 25-minute water exercise video contains a short warm-up and stretch segment.  However, the shorter length videos such as this are intended to be combined with another Poolfit video using the app’s playlist feature. The exercise towel used in this video was 16x27 inches, which are typical dimensions for exercise towels found online, such as this 6-pack on Amazon, available for $22 USD.
Below, Mushi talks more about her inspiration for using a towel in the water.
