15-minute Core Workout

Sunday, February 20 2022

Poolfit is all about water workouts, but sometimes you just can’t get in the pool.  For this reason, we will continue expanding in-home options so that you can still enjoy low-impact exercise and fitness results.  Grab a mat or a towel and join Jackie Lebeau on the floor for 15 minutes of abdominal and lower back training.

Core strength is an essential component of fitness for several reasons.  First and foremost, strong core muscles make it easier to do most physical activities, including activities of daily living (ADA).  A strong core helps to improve posture and it can also protect your spine with a protective layer of musculature, which helps prevent back injury, a leading cause of chronic pain and disability.  The core includes several muscle groups in the torso and the hips.  In the 15-minute Core Conditioning video, the movement targets the rectus abdominis, obliques and erector spinae (lower back).

There are many ways to strengthen the core, as evidenced by the many water exercise videos on Poolfit that include core training.  It is recommended that all different types of core training be utilized because that represents a more functional and efficient approach to core strength.  Mat work is one of the most common ways to strengthen core muscles outside of the pool.  The exercises that Jackie performs will look familiar to many as they represent the most basic movements that target core muscles, including spinal flexion, rotation and extension.  Consider using this video anytime you want to add more core training to your fitness routine.

Poolfit is looking forward to continuing to expand their in-home fitness options. We want to extend a big thank you to Jackie Lebeau for providing the three most recent in-home fitness workouts, which also include Seated Chair Yoga and Low Impact Stepping.  Stay tuned!  Lori Templeman will be returning to Florida to film more videos.  In addition to a couple of water workouts, she will be filming two in-home workouts in the studio, including yoga and a chair workout that utilizes a small ball.

This video, along with S’WET PT, wraps up our existing inventory of videos that were produced in Fall 2021.  Our winter hiatus is officially over.  Filming production has resumed and thankfully the weather here in Florida has warmed up just in time.   Get ready for all new content and some new video leaders.
